The Kittery Police Department employs a full time, sworn  police officer who has been appointed Detective-Juvenile  Officer. Presently occupying that position is Detective William  J. Hackett who has been a Kittery Police Officer for more  than eighteen years, sixteen as Juvenile Officer and who came  to Kittery with twelve years of prior experience inregulatory enforcement with the U. S. Government.

Detective Hackett is a graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy and has successfully completed more than 650 hours of  in-service and College Level training since graduation from the  Academy. Detective Hackett is a Certified Instructor for the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, specializing in the field of Law. He is a Maine native, born raised and educated  in York, married for thirty-five years and the father of three grown children.
