Q: -How old must I be to obtain a Concealed Firearms Permit in Maine?

A: -You must be 18 years of age or older.

Q: -How do I apply for a permit?

A: -If you are a permanent resident of Kittery or Kittery Pt. Maine, you can pick up an application from the

Chief of Police Secretary. Come to the Police department's lobby.

Q: -Is there a fee?

A: Yes,
$35 for original resident permit
$20 for renewal.......Checks Only!

Q: -How long are the permits good for?

 A: - They are valid for 4 years, unless revoked or you change address.

Q: - Is the permit just for Kittery Maine?

A: - No, it is issued by Kittery Police Department but is valid anywhere in the state of Maine.

Q: -Is the permit good to carry any concealed weapon?

 A: - NO, It only allows the carrying of a concealed firearm.

Q: -How long does it take to process an application?

A: -It should take less than 30 days,

Q: -Do I have to prove I know how to handle a gun safely?

A: -YES, a person must submit written documentation to the full  satisfaction of the issuing authority that the person has completed a handgun safety course within the past 5 years, or, the person was in the Armed Forces and received basic firearms training.
